Therapeutic massage a COVID-19 breaker

The introduction of The Karma Studio’s therapeutic massage page asks, “Are you tense, sore, anxious or tired?” and it’s fair to say that after months of lockdown in Bayside Melbourne that most of us are. Thankfully, it won’t be long before we can all enjoy a massage again as we near the end of strict restrictions in the Melbourne area.

Therapeutic massage – the benefits

How can massage, essentially the art of touch, help relieve tension, soreness, anxiety and tiredness?

Massage is one of the oldest healing techniques known to mankind. Practiced by many ancient civilisations, therapeutic massage has been used for many centuries. While most of think of massage as relaxing, and this is in part due to the release of endorphins, to think of massage as simply a relaxation technique would be downplaying the benefits.

Over the years, therapeutic massage has been used to treat a wide range of ailments, improve wellbeing and increase health. A good quality massage will reduce stress hormones that can impair the immune system and leave us more open to a range of negative health conditions.

In addition, massage can improve circulation, increase joint mobility and flexibility, improve skin tone, help your body recover from injuries, stimulate the lymphatic system, help heighten mental alertness and reduce anxiety.

All from simply one person touching another person!
